ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A state inmate was injured in a construction accident Thursday, according to the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say it happened around 1 p.m. at the Coweta County Jail in Newnan.
Sheriff’s deputies said the inmate was working on a jail expansion project when he got pinned between a skid steer and a paver.
The sheriff’s office says the inmate suffered injuries to their lower right leg.
Coweta County Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and transported the inmate worker to Grady Memorial Hospital.
It’s unclear if an investigation will be launched. The sheriff’s office says the inmate is expected to make a full recovery.
