An investigation is ongoing after an attempted murder/suicide in Asheville. Police responded to a reported shooting at an apartment on Long Shoals Road just before 8PM.
When officers arrived they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. She was transported to Mission Hospital with life threatening injuries.
Officers believed the suspect may have still been in the apartment and the building was evacuated. A drone was brought into scan the apartment. A man was then found dead inside the apartment with an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound.
The Coroner’s Office has identified the man as 77 year old, Gregory Wayne Holden. The incident remains under investigation by the Asheville Police Department.
