Karnataka Heatwave: The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre has issued a red alert for six districts in the state, namely Bagalkot, Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri and Koppal due to the impending severe heatwave. The maximum temperatures in these districts are expected to range from 40 to 46 degrees Celsius from 1st to 9th May. However, there is a forecasted drop of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius across the state starting from May 7
The red alert was based on a study conducted by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), as reported by the monitoring centre. The recorded temperature of 45.6 degrees Celsius on 30th April this year is the highest since 2017.
