KCPD investigating shooting just two homes away from Garfield Elementary [Video]

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Wednesday morning, Garfield Elementary School parents were dropping off their kids while police investigated a shooting just two doors down.

At 7:42 a.m., officers received word of a shooting at a home near Wabash Avenue and Elma Street– the same time that parents were dropping their kids off at school.

The school briefly went into lockdown to ensure safety for all and waited until police gave them notice of no threat. Parents continued dropping their kids off as the streets were lined with crime scene tape until around 9:15 a.m.

The Kansas City Police Department is investigating what led up to the shooting. Two victims were found at the home with one suffering critical injuries and the other non-life threatening.
