BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — It started with a request for a wellness check on a man having a mental health crisis in the 10000 block of Shellabarger Road May 14, around noon.
“I know that he’s losing his mind,” said a woman to a dispatcher. “They need to do a wellness check on him because he is losing his mind.”
Police arrived and left, after 47-year-old Robert Robinson refused to leave the home and showed no signs of being dangerous to himself or others. The woman called again around 8 p.m., sharing how matters had worsened by telling dispatchers Robinson now had a gun.
“What kind of firearm does he have? Is it a handgun? A long gun?” asked the dispatcher.
