Knoxville Fire Department has to cut holes in house to put out fire, KFD says [Video]

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – A house fire in Knoxville closed Cedar Lane Monday, according to the Knoxville Fire Department.

The fire was called in around 11:30 a.m., KFD said, when a neighbor noticed the home, located at 2004 Cedar Lane, was on fire.

“As crews attempted to enter the house, they were met with a very heavy amount of stockpiled items throughout the entire structure,” KFD Assistant Chief Mark Wilbanks said. “KFD crews made the decision to cut two large openings in the front and side of the home to better access the fire.”

Once crews could access the inside, Wilbanks said, they were able to put the fire out. They also reportedly had to cut a hole in the home’s roof to access the attic.

One man lived in the home, Wilbanks said, but was able to get out without injuries. The home also did not have working smoke …
