Latest on Staten Island motorcycle crash Sunday: Rider in critical condition [Video]

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A 35-year-old motorcyclist was left in critical condition following an accident in Meiers Corners Sunday night.

According to police, at approximately 6:20 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision in the vicinity of North Gannon and Mountainview avenues.

Further investigation by NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that the motorcyclist was riding a 2011 Yamaha westbound on North Gannon Avenue when he allegedly sideswiped a 2013 Lexus driven by a 22-year-old woman who was making a right onto North Gannon Avenue from Mountainview Avenue, an NYPD spokesperson said.

EMS transported the rider to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton. The driver of the Lexus was uninjured, police said.

Police initially reported that the motorcyclist was rear-ended by another vehicle and was in stable condition.

There have been no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing, police said.
