Lawrence man convicted of domestic violence [Video]

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Servando J. Martinez Vazquez was found guilty on Thursday for domestic battery and criminal damage to property.

Both convictions are misdemeanors, announced by Douglas County District Attorney Suzanne Valdez.

According to a press release the jury found that both offenses were acts of domestic violence.

“Domestic violence has no place in our homes or anywhere in our community,” said Valdez. “The survivor in this case has great strength and I thank her for working with my office to seek justice.”

Judge Stacey Donovan sentenced Martinez Vazquez, 24, to a total of six months in county jail. Following the six months, the sentence is then suspended for 12 months of probation.

This goes back to an incident on October 23, 2023, when Martinez Vazquez struck his then 26-year-old former girlfriend at her home in the 2500 block of Crestline Court. He also damaged a front door …
