Le Mars man dies after tractor overturns in burn pit [Video]

LE MARS, I.A. (Dakota News Now) – The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office was called to an accident in Le Mars, Iowa, on Monday afternoon.

The incident happened around 3:40 p.m. at a residence in the 15000 block of Mesquite Ave.

According to authorities, 67-year-old Jeffrey Hanson of Le Mars was driving a John Deere X485 lawn tractor next to a burn pit on the property.

The tractor was being operated on the edge of the burn pit when it dropped off the edge and rolled into the burn pit.

The tractor overturned and pinned the victim underneath.

The victim suffered fatal injuries from the accident.

The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Le Mars Fire and Rescue, Le Mars PD, Plymouth County M.E. and Stockton Towing.
