The Lincoln Pius X triple jumper has one of Nebraska’s longest-held state records in his sights, and it may just be a matter of time before he breaks it.

He didn’t get there Thursday during the Harold Scott Invitational at the Beechner Athletic Complex, but the Thunderbolt senior fully believes big things are on the horizon after missing nearly all of last season with a torn ACL.

“I think last year just kind of set up a bunch of anger for this year,” Grosserode said Thursday. “Just leave it out on the track for my senior year.”

Grosserode set the Harold Scott meet record with a 48-foot leap to win the triple jump and went 22-7½ to win the long jump.

In both events, he took just two of a possible six attempts as he ramps up for Friday’s KU Relays.
