Lincoln unveils new Emergency Communications Center [Video]

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Lincoln Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird and public safety representatives announced the opening of the new Emergency Communications Center at a news conference Thursday morning.

Mayor Gaylor Baird was joined by Lincoln Police Chief Michon Morrow and Lincoln Emergency Communications Center Manager Jessica Loos.

The nearly $8.1 million new, expanded center was built to improve the resources and work environment for local 911 dispatchers, with advanced technology and facility upgrades to better serve the evolving communities.

“This space is more than walls and equipment. It is a testament to our commitment to progress and care. It will help us retain our dedicated professions and attract tomorrow’s professions who will share our passion for serving others,” Loos said.

The 51-member team of dispatchers and supervisors moved from its Hall of Justice location into the new facility in late June. The center shares the building with LPD, which moved …
