Lindemann goes on trial for 2022 paddlewheel cruise crash on Fox River [Video]

OSHKOSH, Wis. (WBAY) – The trial is set to begin Monday for a man accused of causing a collision with an evening cruise on the Fox River almost two years ago, injuring several people.

Jason Lindemann, 53, pleaded not guilty to more than a dozen counts, including second-degree recklessly endangering safety and failing to render aid after causing a boating accident.

Prosecutors say he crashed his powerboat into the On the Loos paddlewheel cruise near Oshkosh in July 2022.

Forty-four people were on the paddlewheel boat.

According to the criminal complaint, a witness told police the powerboat went under the Oregon Street bridge and then “it went to full throttle and the bow went up.” The witness heard a loud boom and saw the powerboat ricochet off the paddlewheel boat.

The witness said people on boats nearby tried to follow the powerboat as it left the area.
