Literacy Volunteers of Marion County offers summer reading program with a furry friend [Video]

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) – Literacy Volunteers of Marion County has been serving the local community of Fairmont for over two decades. Offering a place where parents can send their child to receive the individual hands-on tutoring they need, for a service free of charge. This summer organization started it’s first ever “Take a vacation ” reading program; the 6 week program takes children 8-12 years old to 6 fun locations through the imaginary world of reading in an effort to make reading fun. While this opportunity does present a great opportunity for a child’s love of reading to grow; According to program Executive Director Susan May, it’s safe to say many program participants are more excited about the star of the program, Ozzie the Reading Dog.
