Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel has accused Luke Shaw of not prioritising his club amid the left-back’s latest setback.

Shaw, who last pulled on a United shirt on February 18, overcame a hamstring injury in time to start the Euro 2024 final for England.

But it wasn’t long before the left-back had returned to the casualty ward after sustaining a calf strain during pre-season.

In a brief statement, United insisted they were hopeful of Shaw returning after the first international break, with a clash against Southampton on September 14 slated as a potential return date.

Should that timeline remain intact, it would mark 209 days between appearances for Shaw at club level.

Red Devils icon Schmeichel has now voiced his frustrations over the 29-year-old’s injury woes.
