MADISON COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) — One month after the Madison Roller Hockey Rink was destroyed by a forest fire, community members have donated $14,000 for the rebuilding process.
“Trees are over 100 yards away. We’re still a little worried about it, we might come out with our own chainsaws and cut them down, because we don’t need another wildfire going on over here,” Chew said.
But, there’s a lot of money left to raise.
“The new rink without a surface underneath it, just the board and the tiles, and having that installed is like $160,000, 180,000,” Chew said.
