GARDAI have been ordered to carry out half an hour of “road safety activity” on each shift following a recent rise in crash deaths.
Garda Commissioner Drew Harris today directed that that all uniformed officers “will conduct 30 minutes each of road safety activity per tour of duty”.
Last year was one of the worst in recent memory for road deaths, with 188 passing away from collisions.
This year, more than 60 people have died on our roads.
A disproportionate number of those killed have been young people aged between 16 and 25.
