Man, 21, accused of Staten Island hit-run that left motorcyclist with punctured lung, spleen [Video]

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A Willowbrook man has been arrested and faces charges in connection with an alleged hit-and-run crash earlier in the month that left a 28-year-old motorcyclist critically injured.

Naftoli Messinger, 21, of Crafton Avenue, was arrested on Tuesday, according to an NYPD spokesperson.

He was arraigned on a misdemeanor charge of leaving the scene of an accident with an injury, court records indicate.

According to the criminal complaint, on Tuesday, June 4, at about 9 p.m. in the vicinity of Victory Boulevard and Kell Avenue, the victim claims that a collision occurred between his 2021 Kawasaki motorcycle and Messinger’s 2010 Toyota Sequoia when Messinger suddenly applied the brakes in order to make a sharp left turn without the use of his turn signal.

“The operator then ran over the victim and fled the location in the Sequoia, traveling southbound on Kell Avenue,” the NYPD statement continued.
