Man arrested for alleged DUI after crashing into Wickenburg police vehicle [Video]

WICKENBURG, AZ (AZFamily) —A man is facing multiple charges, including driving under the influence, after reportedly fleeing from Wickenburg police before crashing into an officer’s vehicle early Sunday morning.

Around 1 a.m., Wickenburg police officers attempted to stop a Cadillac SUV for speeding. Police say the driver, 24-year-old Jheovanny Penuelas Fernandez, fled from police because he had been drinking and had other pending criminal matters.

Police say Fernandez was driving through neighborhoods when he collided head-on with a police vehicle after the officers stopped following him.

Fernandez was not hurt. However, the police officer involved received minor injuries.

Police say Fernandez had a blood alcohol content of 0.133%. He was booked on several charges, including DUI, aggravated assault, endangerment, reckless driving, unlawful flight and criminal speed.
