PHOENIX (AZFamily) —A man was arrested on DUI charges after a crash left one person dead in south Phoenix Saturday.
Around 5:40 p.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle collision near 35th and Southern avenues.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man, later identified as 44-year-old Henry Mandley, had been ejected from one of the vehicles and was seriously hurt. Mandley was hospitalized but died in the early morning hours on Sunday.
Authorities say 22-year-old Fernando Rodriguez-Sanchez was driving the SUV that crashed into the car that Mandley was in. Rodriguez-Sanchez and a passenger ran away after the collision but were detained shortly afterward.
Mandley was a passenger in the vehicle. A woman who was driving, and two minors that were also passengers were all hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
