Man facing jail after fleeing accident leaving girlfriend in car to die | UK News [Video]

A boyfriend has admitted causing death by dangerous driving after he crashed his car and then left his girlfriend alone with fatal injuries.

Demi Mabbitt, 25, had been travelling in the passenger seat and was still alive in the Audi’s wreckage when rescuers found her, but died a week later.

Cameron Jones, 29, went missing after the collision after a night out, sparking a hunt by police until he was eventually located.

Jones, of Merthyr in South Wales, admitted causing the accident and also pleaded guilty to one count of causing death by driving while uninsured.

He will be sentenced at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court later this month, with Judge Tracey Lloyd-Clarke warning ‘an immediate custodial sentence’ would follow given the ‘serious offences’.

The victim’s father Paul Mabbitt described Demi, from Aberfan, as a ‘wonderful daughter, granddaughter, sister, auntie and cousin’ who was ‘the glue’ that held their family together.
