Man severely burned after grease fire explodes at Mesa home [Video]

MESA, AZ (AZFamily) — A man was taken to the hospital after being severely burned in a kitchen fire that caused an explosion at a Mesa home on Wednesday night.

It happened in a neighborhood near University Drive and Greenfield Road.

According to police, a man and a child were home when the man heated oil on the stove, and it exploded, causing a window blow out.

The man was taken to the Arizona Burn Center in Phoenix with severe burns in the middle of his body, police said.

His condition is unknown.

The child wasn’t hurt.
