Mass. man injured in grizzly bear attack, airlifted from national park [Video]

A Massachusetts man visiting a national park in Wyoming was seriously injured this weekend when he was attacked by a grizzly bear.

According to the National Park Service, the 35-year-old man, who has not been identified, was visiting Grand Teton National Park when he encountered two grizzly bears on Sunday afternoon. One of the bears attacked him, seriously injuring him.

Park rangers and Teton County Search and Rescue went to the scene of the attack near Signal Mountain Summit Road, where they provided emergency medical care. The man was airlifted by a helicopter to an ambulance, which brought him to St. John’s Hospital in Jackson, Wyoming.

Authorities said Sunday the man was in stable condition and expected to fully recover.

Signal Mountain Summit Road and Summit Mountain Trail were closed to the public following the attack.
