Mayor LaToya Cantrell’s office responded to the indictment of former 911 director Tyrell Morris following multiple requests for a comment.Friday, a member of Cantrell’s team attempted to block reporters from asking her questions related to Tyrell Morris, the former 911 director she appointed who has now been indicted by a grand jury.”We’re not doing that. You should have a press release in about 30 minutes,” said a staff member with the mayor’s office.Those 30 minutes her team promised reporters turned into hours until the city released the statement at 8:48 p.m. Friday night.”Mr. Morris is the former Executive Director of the Orleans Parish Communication District (OPCD), which is a state agency governed by its’ own board.
