Mercer County simulation bus crash gives emergency responders valuable training [Video]

HARRODSBURG, Ky. (FOX 56) — A bus crash can happen at any time, which means emergency responders need to be ready for anything and act on a moment’s notice. A simulation in Mercer County was meant to train the responders on what to do.

It’s a scene everyone was thankful wasn’t real, but it also had a crucial meaning. Mercer County Emergency Management, along with other responders came to act as if this bus wreck was a real incident. Brad Cox is the director of Mercer County Emergency Management.

“We took the opportunity to include our first responders, our hospital, our health department, and all of our responders that would respond to a normal wreck. That way, everybody got a chance to kind of go over the policies, the procedures and do some hands-on training on if we did have a bus crash,“ Cox said.
