Mets ace has regretful feelings after latest injury news [Video]

Kodai Senga has yet to make his 2024 debut, and the Mets ace wants to be back on the mound.

Senga suffered a right shoulder capsule strain in spring training. Before he began bullpen sessions to return, an MRI revealed nerve inflammation. He has yet to restart a throwing program.

“It’s obviously not ideal, a lot of regretful feelings,” Senga said Monday, via SNY. “I just want to get back out there. I’m here at the stadium and I see all the guys fighting. It really makes me want to have the urge to get back out there and pitch for the team.”

Senga, 31, signed a a five-year, $75 million contract with the Mets before last season and in 2023 he posted a 2.98 ERA with 202 strikeouts over 166 1/3 innings.
