Microsoft, CrowdStrike outage causes issues in Colorado Springs [Video]

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – The national Microsoft and CrowdStrike outage that wreaked havoc across the country also caused issues in southern Colorado Friday.

Colorado Springs Police officials said they noticed something was wrong with their system around 10:45 p.m. the night before when certain computers in their emergency communications center began to go offline.

Public Relations manager Ira Cronin said the outage did not impact their 911 lines and radios, but they did have to change operations in the dispatch center.

“We switched to, in the communications center, what we call paper dispatching so normally when you would see a call taker with a headset, on the phone, typing into a keyboard and into a computer system, our people have the headphones on, have a piece of paper and a pen, they’re taking down the critical information and then that’s being shuttled around the room,” Cronin said.
