Midwest Food Bank sends aid for tornado, flood victims in 2 states [Video]

(25News Now) – Nebraska and Texas, hit hard by severe weather in recent days, are receiving disaster relief from Central Illinois-based Midwest Food Bank (MFB).

The non-profit organization, founded in 20-years ago in McLean County, said Thursday it’s sending a semi loaded with water, drinks and snacks to the Omaha, Nebraska area where a tornado struck on April 26. Hundreds of homes there were damaged or destroyed.

A semi-load of water and cleaning supplies, and three more semis filled with food and hygiene kits are headed to Houston where there’s been severe flooding, prompting rescues from homes, rooftops, and roads.

Food and other supplies are coming from MFB locations in Morton and Georgia. The organization said there will be opportunities at both places for volunteers to fill family food boxes.
