Mt. Lemmon, Ariz. (13 News) – The community on Mount Lemmon has been designated a Firewise community for more than two decades, and events like these are to prepare for when a wildfire breaks out.
“So we know that we will have a wildfire. What we’re doing is everything we can to reduce the risk of losing our property,” said Sally Crum, the Mount Lemmon Firewise community leader.
The community was invited to a Firewise block party on Saturday to learn about wildfire prevention from different agencies and organizations, including the US Forest Service, the Mount Lemmon Fire District, and many others.
And this is not the first event of its kind, as they’re now in the 15th year.
“So it’s an ongoing effort to keep everyone informed and educated on what they need to do to prevent wildfires,” Crum said.
