MTA worker struck by A train, critically injured in Brooklyn [Video]

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – An MTA worker was critically injured early Thursday when he was struck by an A-line train in Downtown Brooklyn while performing track work, police said.

The on-duty track worker suffered injuries to his face and head when he was hit by the northbound train around 12:30 a.m. while working as a flagger south of the Hoyt–Schermerhorn Streets station, according to the NYPD.

Flaggers alert oncoming trains to the presence of a work crew in the area.

He suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue in critical condition.

An investigation into the incident caused major service disruptions along the A and F lines Thursday morning.

It was just months ago in November that another flagger, Hilarion Joseph, 57, was fatally struck by an uptown D train near the 34th Street–Herald Square station.
