Muhlenberg County tornado recovery donations falling behind demand | News [Video]

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (WEVV) — After three weeks, the rolling hills of Muhlenberg County are still marred by hundreds of thousands of cubic yards of fallen vegetation and other debris after a Memorial Day weekend tornado tore through the county.

Leah Pierce, warehouse manager of the Muhlenberg County Disaster Resource Facility, told 44News “we haven’t had as much volunteer work come in to help, and you can tell.”

Even with a group of volunteers from out of state staying at a local church, the work is proving too much for local resources to accomplish on their own.

Authorities estimate that the 95,000 cubic yards of debris already picked up in the county are just one third of the total destruction wrought by the storm’s 110 …
