WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – Many kids may not be able to afford things that others have such as clothes, books, or even a fun toy. So students at John Muir Middle School have stepped up to help give those kids a comforting item they may not have access to at home.
Patty Zemke is a sixth-grade health teacher for the Wausau School District. She says they knew they were going to be doing a community project. Meeting with resources in the community like the police and the Women’s Community Center, her students narrowed it down to a Comfort Pantry.
“They got to make their own list and do their own shopping,” said Zemke.
That list includes items that would comfort children during a traumatic event. Those items can be found at the Victims Resource Center of the Wausau Police Department.
