National Weather Service investigating possible tornado in Lawrence Township after Friday storms [Video]

The National Weather Service’s Mount Holly office dispatched a storm survey team on Saturday morning to Lawrence Township in Mercer County to investigate a possible tornado.

Strong thunderstorms rampaged through the state Friday evening, fulfilling forecasts that predicted hail and heavy wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour in addition to the downpours that were part of a 17-county thunderstorm watch that lasted from 4:55 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Photos shared to social media showed flipped cars as a result of strong winds in Lawrence Township, and community members posted about seeing uprooted trees.
