June marks a painful moment for an Elkhorn family, but they use their experience to help others stay safe by talking about water safety. “I’m doing this in his memory. To keep his memory alive,” said Lisa Seemann. In 2016, 3-year-old Aspen Seemann died after a backyard drowning accident at his lakefront home. “He would be graduating from fourth grade. My niece just graduated today,” said Aspen’s mom, who recognizes each year the milestones she’s missing with her son. Seemann is a big supporter of water safety lessons and courses for toddlers. Her youngest child, now age six, was able to take a class at age 2 that taught water survival skills.
