New boutique hotel coming to downtown Rockford breaks ground [Video]

Wheeler Development Group broke ground at 12 South Main Street in Downtown Rockford in an empty lot that’ll soon bring more traffic and business to an already popular area with their new project “Hotel Rosa.”

It’s a project that some members of the community are happy to see coming to their neighborhood as this will be the downtown areas first hotel. Wheeler Development Group president Ryan Wheeler is excited to finally get the project started. 

“It’s been about 15 years since downtown Rockford has seen a new building, and the area has been growing a lot,” Ryan Wheeler said. “There are good spaces being revitalized, there’s a lot more retailers and they’re doing better.
