New law will soon allow private building inspections in Tennessee [Video]

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Right now developers are gearing up because they will soon be able to hire a private company for their safety inspections. The new law goes into effect on October 1. 

Dan Mitchell, Secretary and Treasurer for the Home Builder Association of Tennessee, said this is something that will benefit a lot of people. 

It will also help many places in Tennessee where they’re backed up and it can take them up to 20 days to get an inspection.

“It’s definitely another tool in our tool belt to be able to help us expedite projects as we need to get them to move forward,” Mitchell said. “Some of the municipalities don’t have the number of inspectors available for them to be able to get inspections done within a timely manner.”
