THE Baltimore Ravens have left NFL fans divided with their launch of new alternate purple helmets.
The Ravens’ ‘Purple Rising’ helmet features a gold face mask and striping, as well as a little-used forward-facing bird logo.
It is just the third helmet design in team history – and the first that is mainly purple.
The move comes after the NFL relaxed its headgear-related uniform rules.
The helmets have already proven popular with the Ravens players.
“It’s bad-a**, man,” tight end Mark Andrews said in a launch video.
But the new look has produced a mixed reaction from fans.
“Oh lawdy this needed a content warning,” one fan said.
