North Lincoln business catches fire [Video]

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Parts of Cornhusker Highway were closed on Monday due to a large fire which engulfed a Lincoln business. The fire was initially reported near North 23rd Street and Cornhusker Highway at 2:35 p.m.

According to LFR, crews were dispatched to Lincoln Cars due to a report of an explosion and a car fire. Upon arrival, smoke was coming from the building. The fire was made more difficult due to southwest winds fanning the fire through the open garage doors. Due to the high intensity of the fire, crews could not enter the structure immediately.

Several parts of the building, including the roof and west wall, collapsed due to the fire.

A nearby business sustained smoke and heat damage, according to LFR.

No individuals have been hurt due to the fire.

LFR said the cause of the fire is still under investigation. The fire caused $500,000 in damage to the building, and $150,000 to its contents. …
