There are new details about last week’s deadly plane crash in Fairbanks.

The NTSB released a preliminary report about the Douglas DC-4 that came down along the Tanana River.

The plane, owned by Alaska Air Fuel, was traveling from Fairbanks to Kobuk with thousands of gallons of fuel.

According to federal investigators, the plane’s engine caught fire shortly after takeoff and then separated from the wing.

The crew tried to get back to the Fairbanks airport but they couldn’t make it.

The plane hit the ground and was engulfed in flames killing the two pilots on board.
