LUFKIN, Texas — The Lufkin Police Department says a man who barricaded himself inside a home leading to an hourslong standoff is in custody.

According to the LPD, Jason Penick, 47, of Lufkin, barricaded himself in a home in the 700 block of Clark Ave. Sunday afternoon after shooting at officers when they were responding to a disturbance call.

Officials say other residents of the home were removed safely. 

Penick has been charged with aggravated assault against a public servant.
