Oil tanker explodes in Lee County, injuring 2 [Video]

According to Lee County EMS, several organizations, including the Giddings Fire Department, South Lee County Fire Department, Lincoln Fire Department, Giddings Police Department, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and Fayette County EMS, all responded to the explosion that occurred on U.S. 290 east of Giddings.

Medics treated the two injured patients while crews worked to extinguish the fire. The two patients were taken to Austin for treatment, where their conditions are unknown.

As of 1:30 p.m., eastbound and Westbound lanes of U.S. 290 at FM 180 were closed following the crash.
