One dead following pedestrian vs semi accident on I-70 [Video]

CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Clay County Coroner is working to identify the remains of a male pedestrian struck on Interstate 70 by a semi truck.

According to Indiana State Police, the incident occurred at the 22 mile marker of I-70 westbound in Clay County at approximately 2:30 a.m. Thursday. The investigation was stalled due to dense fog in the area causing reconstruction crews to have to delay their investigation for safer conditions. Police waited for the fog to clear, then at 8:40 a.m. they shut down the roadway for a little over an hour while the investigation continued.

Investigating troopers learned that a pedestrian had been walking in the right lane of I-70 westbound when he was struck by the truck.

The driver of the semi immediately pulled over and called 911. Police said the driver has been cooperative with the investigation.
