One injured in Washington County plane crash [Video]

Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran says the crash happened in Tennille. The pilot is expected to survive.

TENNILLE, Ga. — One man is injured after crashing his plane in Washington County Saturday night.

According to Sheriff Joel Cochran, it happened around 7:30 p.m. on Carver Street in Tennille. Cochran says the pilot suffered injuries, but he is expected to live. 

The man had no other passengers, and there were no other reported injuries.

Cochran says he was taken to a trauma center in Augusta.

Deputies, Fire Rescue, and Emergency Medical Services were on the scene. Law enforcement advised the public to use caution in the area while they cleaned up. 

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the plane is a single-engine kit plane. The manufacturer of the kit is JA Superstol, which is South Carolina-based.
