Opening of new luxury apartment sparks anger from Eugene community | News [Video]

EUGENE, Ore.– The newly built Heartwood Apartment building is the latest apartment complex to open in Eugene’s newly-established River District. However, residents in Eugene are not supportive of the building because of the high cost of rent there.

Nancy Tubbs was visiting Eugene while away from her home in Santa Cruz. In her experience of living in a college community, she feels there are striking similarities to her home city while in Eugene. Tubbs said she feels that when luxury apartments move into college communities, only those not from the area can afford to live there, excluding the people who live with repeated building construction.
