Organization helps Portage tornado victims clean up [Video]

PORTAGE, Mich. (WOOD) — Some Michiganders are still dealing with downed trees and debris all over their yards after tornadoes hit three weeks ago.

Humanitarian organization World Renew Disaster Response Services has volunteers helping to pick up the pieces and bring hope.

“Our focus is that if there is a need later on from one of our local partners, if they find people who need assistance fixing their homes or putting the pieces back together, that is certainly a part of what we do,” said Chris Gibson, World Renew Disaster Response Services group manager.

The humanitarian organization brings help and hope to people in the aftermath of natural disasters. An army of volunteers is giving their time in Cass County and in the hard-hit city of Portage after several tornadoes, including two EF2s rolled through on May 7.
