Overland Park cancels Star Spangled Spectacular at Corporate Woods [Video]

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (KCTV) – Storms dampen plans to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday.

Overland Park announced Thursday morning that Star Spangled Spectacular at Corporate Woods, planned for the evening of July 4th, would not take place.

The city said overnight rain caused Indian Creek to flood and send water into Corporate Woods Founders’ Park. The water since receded, but left behind a mess.

There are safety concerns about the condition of the area. Organizers said the area is not safe enough for thousands of people to gather.

Star Spangled Spectacular is rescheduled for Friday, July 5. Fireworks will take place around 10 p.m. The rest of the event will not take place. Food trucks and the live music previous planned for the event are canceled.
