Papillion La Vista administrator, Omaha football player Yano Jones dies [Video]

PAPILLION, Neb. (WOWT) – An administrative leader at a Papillion high school who played football at UNO — and went on to play for the Omaha Beef — has died.

Most recently, Yano Jones was the assistant prinicpal at Papillion La Vista South High School.

Papillion La Vista Community Schools sent a letter to staff and student families referring them a collection of online resources for talking with children about grief.

“We understand the significant impact Yano had on many students and staff within our school community,” the letter states. “…This news may be difficult for your student to process, and we encourage you to have an open and honest conversation with them about their feelings.”

The district also provided staff and student families access to grief counselors at the school for several hours this week.
