Parents ‘Grateful’ for Support After Daughter Dies from Badminton Accident [Video]

The parents of 6-year-old Lucy Morgan, who died in a “freak accident” while playing with her brother earlier this month, are “grateful” for the support they’ve received since her death.

In a statement shared on behalf of Jesse and Bethany Morgan, Jill Anthony, who organized the Morgan family’s GoFundMe page, told PEOPLE, “They have received money from the fundraiser and are grateful for the outpouring of love and support.”

The page was created on June 4, the day before Lucy succumbed to the injuries she sustained in the June 1 incident, which Jesse described in his blog as a “freak accident.”

As of June 11, the fundraiser has raised over $131,000 of its $150,000 goal, which is intended to provide the family with “extravagant financial support – to help pay for meals while they are away from home, lodging for family, medical costs … whatever they need,” per the GoFundMe’s description.
