PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – The Portland Bureau of Transportation released a report this week, highlighting a record number of traffic-related deaths in Portland in 2023.
There were 69 people killed in traffic accidents on Portland streets in 2023 between drivers, pedestrians, and bikers- a number that’s steadily increased since 2019, which had 48 traffic-related deaths. It’s the highest death toll in the last 30 years.
On Wednesday, PBOT presented its report to the City Council, showing that speeding and impaired driving are among the leading causes. View the full report here.
