Pedestrian killed on I-64 in southern Indiana, police say | News from WDRB [Video]

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A female pedestrian was hit and killed early Saturday morning on Interstate 64 in southern Indiana, according to Indiana State Police.

Police said a truck hit a pedestrian on I-64 near the Lanesville exit around 1:30 a.m. The female died in the highway between the Lanesville exit and the Crandall/Lanesville Road overpass.

According to police, two semitrucks were also as the scene. A driver of a 2003 Peterbilt pulling a trailer said he swerved and missed a pedestrian in the eastbound lanes but drove off the left side of the highway and crashed through a cable barrier before stopping on the westbound side.

According to police, a driver of a 2022 Freightliner stopped in the right-hand emergency lane just east of the overpass. That driver told police the truck was unable to avoid hitting the pedestrian in the middle of the righthand lane.
