Pedestrian killed on Route 46 identified [Video]

Authorities have identified the pedestrian struck and killed by a vehicle on Route 46 in Parsippany last week as a 55-year-old man from Essex County.

Gerard J. Calcagno, of Bloomfield, was hit by an SUV on the eastbound side of the highway near Starbucks at about 9:50 p.m., the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Calcagno was pronounced dead at the scene, near Baldwin Road, officials said. The driver stopped and spoke to police. The crash remains under investigation, a spokeswoman for the prosecutor’s office said Tuesday.
